Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) across England are invited to express their interest in joining Phase Two of the National CLEAR Women’s Health Neighbourhood Transformation Programme, commissioned by NHS England to support the delivery of more accessible, sustainable and neighbourhood-based women’s health services.
Building on the success and learning from Phase One, this next phase will support up to three ICBs to work with up to two neighbourhood teams each to embed four priority women’s health pathways into neighbourhood models of care:
- Menopause
- Heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia/HMB)
- Urogynaecology
- Pelvic pain
Women’s health services continue to experience rising demand, workforce pressures and significant variation in access and outcomes. Many women face long waits for diagnosis and treatment, fragmented care pathways and inconsistent access to specialist support. Conditions including menopause, heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain and urogynaecological disorders have historically been under-served despite their significant impact on quality of life.
Phase Two of the CLEAR programme will help participating systems address these challenges by embedding evidence-based women’s health pathways within neighbourhood models of care. Working across primary, community and secondary care, the programme will support local teams to redesign services around population need, strengthen collaboration across providers and make better use of workforce capacity to improve access, enhance patient experience and deliver more sustainable services.
What participating systems will receive
Selected ICBs and neighbourhood teams will be supported by the multidisciplinary CLEAR team throughout the programme.
Support includes:
- Clinical leadership, data analysis and workforce modelling tailored to local needs.
- Practical implementation support to embed neighbourhood-based women’s health pathways.
- Evaluation and national recognition to support learning, spread and future service improvement.
Working alongside local teams, the CLEAR team will help participating systems understand local demand, identify opportunities for improvement and develop neighbourhood-based models of care that reflect population needs.
Participants will also receive tailored recommendations and practical implementation support to help embed new pathways, alongside access to the CLEAR Women’s Integrated Neighbourhood Service Delivery Toolkit. Further details of the programme and support available can be found in the EOI Information Pack.
