CLEAR Essentials
Our virtual one-day course teaches a tried and tested method for healthcare transformation – based on our CLEAR methodology and its practical application to drive change and lead innovation.
The course covers the four stages of CLEAR that we use in every redesign project : clinical engagement, data interrogation, innovation, and recommendations for change – supporting participants to tackle complex problems and deliver new models of care and workforce redesign.
Designed by clinicians, the course includes simulations and case studies from the programme – enabling participants to begin to apply the learning from the course straight away and make a difference in their working environments.
Building transformation capability
CLEAR Essentials uses a blended learning approach of interactive tutorials, e-lectures and discussion to build the skills needed to analyse complex problems and design innovative new models of care and workforce redesign.
The CLEAR methodology enables clinicians to diagnose challenges and build solutions – combined with providing the evidence for the economic value and impact of change.
The methodology is integral to our National CLEAR Programme transformation projects. Since 2019, the programme has completed more than 50 projects across NHS priority areas – recommending practical and financially viable changes to enhance care, improve efficiency and ensure the sustainability of services.

Data interrogation Bespoke data dashboards will help you combine clinical insight with data to gain a unique perspective about systems, patient activity, and flow; evidencing key challenges to form deeper insights and suggest impact of potential solutions. |

Innovation Articulating the aims of the innovation stage and understanding approaches used to develop and refine innovative solutions. By working with likeminded colleagues, you will gain practical experience of developing these solutions and knowledge share to promote cross-system learning. |

Workforce Through a live workforce planning simulation, you will gain practical experience of evaluating, developing, and testing workforce modelling for an NHS organisation. |

Recommendations All elements come together to communicate the need, evidence, benefits and potential impact of your recommended changes. Understand how the impact of a CLEAR project is evaluated, how to present recommendations to senior leadership and how outcomes can be delivered. |
